
Recently arrived in Spain
- REGISTRATION (of residency):
All individuals residing in Spain, regardless of nationality or residence permit status, must register their address (whether they are the owner, tenant, or staying with family or friends). This registration allows access to various rights, such as applying for regularization or residence and work permits, obtaining a health card, and accessing municipal services, among others.
- SER CARD: In some neighborhoods in Madrid, a permit is required to park your vehicle on the street (Green Zone or Blue Zone).
- DRIVER’S LICENSE EXCHANGE: If you have been residing in Spain for more than 6 months, you are required to exchange your UK driver’s license.
- DOCUMENTATION OBTAINMENT: To study and reside in Spain (whether working or not), you need to have official identification documents.
- HEALTH CARD: This essential document allows foreign citizens to access public health services in Spain.
- HOUSEHOLD EMPLOYEES/NANNIES/CARE PROVIDERS: If you wish to hire someone to work in your home (cleaning, taking care of your children, or caring for elderly family members), you must register them in Social Security under a special regime.
- MARRIAGE: If you wish to get married in Spain, either in a church or through civil ceremonies, we will handle all the necessary documentation for you.
- INHERITANCE FOR RESIDENTS IN SPAIN: In Spain, when someone passes away, taxes must be paid on their assets (such as property, money, etc.).
If the heir does not reside in Spain, he/she pays tax in Spain for assets located within Spanish territory.
If the heir is a resident, he/she pays tax in Spain on all the deceased’s assets worldwide.
- ACADEMIC CERTIFICATES OBTAINED ABROAD:
a. Recognition of Studies (Homologation): Recognizing foreign degrees as equivalent to Spanish qualifications entails validating their official status in Spain.
b. Validation of Studies : Validating and equating foreign studies with Spanish equivalents allows individuals to continue their education at a Spanish educational institution.
- MARRIAGE IN SPAIN: If you wish to get married in Spain, either civilly or through the Church, you must gather a series of documents (from both your country of origin and Spain) and schedule an appointment with the institution where you plan to marry (Town Hall, Notary, or Church).
- LARGE FAMILY CARD: For a family to enjoy the benefits of being classified as a large family, this status must be officially recognized through an official certificate
